Self-directed– this concept, as do the others that follow, applies on an individual, team, and organizational level. It emphasizes the need to establish a sense of purpose and meaning for our lives and specifically for the choices on how we expend our energies. These choices come from our values and belief system. Just think what a positive impact this capability has in our own life, in our family, in our schools, and places of work, as we cultivate its development and establish a positive expectation for it!
This leads us to the importance of the second characteristic, Sense of Ownership and Partnership-“Taking responsibility for your value-added contribution and working in cooperation and harmony with others– a win/win relationship”.
